As many as 21 senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in the rank of Inspector Generals (IGs) or above were transferred in a late-night administrative reshuffle in Rajasthan on Monday.

The reshuffle led to a change of guard at many key posts, including those of the Additional Director Generals (ADGs) at the Police Headquarters, the Crime Branch and Intelligence. The Police Commissioner of Jodhpur and the IGs of the Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Kota police ranges have also been transferred.

Dr Hawa Singh Ghumaria of the 1997 batch has been appointed ADG, Police Headquarters; Bipin Kumar Pandey as ADG, Crime Branch; and Prafulla Kumar as ADG, Intelligence.

Sharath Kaviraj is the new Police Commissioner of Jodhpur. Rahul Prakash has been posted as IG, Jaipur Range; Satyendra Singh as IG, Jodhpur Range; Om Prakash(2008), as IG, Bikaner Range; and Rajesh Prakash Goyal as IG, Kota Range.

Significantly, the transfers have been effected amid the ongoing state assembly budget session and persistent criticism from opposition leaders over the law and order situation.
